Biography

I have been addicted to China since I first visited in 1988. Many classes, trips, meals, and jobs later, I'm still amazed at what I see as well what I don't see. I'm a professor of Chinese political economy and director of the Research Center for Chinese Politics and Business at Indiana University. My research interests include business lobbying, policymaking, global governance, and US-China relations. I'm motivated by building bridges across unnecessary divides: comparative politics and international relations, area studies and theory-driven political science, polisci and other disciplines, the academy and the business and public policy communities, and golfers and everyone else (I'm a golfer).
